IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Hypnotherapy Disclaimer
This disclaimer explains the nature and limitations of the hypnotherapy services provided by Invoke Hypnotherapy and provides important information about medical care, emergencies and individual outcomes.
Last updated: 31 July 2026
Nature and purpose of hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process that uses hypnosis and focused attention to support agreed goals, changes in thinking and changes in habitual or emotional responses.
A complementary service
Hypnotherapy is provided as a complementary service. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, medical treatment, psychiatric care, psychological assessment or another service provided by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Scope of the service
Invoke Hypnotherapy provides hypnotherapy services and does not provide medical diagnoses, prescribe medication or offer emergency medical or mental-health care.
Information discussed during a consultation helps me assess whether hypnotherapy appears appropriate. It does not amount to a medical or psychiatric diagnosis.
Prescribed treatment and medication
You should not stop, reduce or otherwise change prescribed medication or an existing treatment plan without first speaking to the appropriately qualified healthcare professional responsible for your care.
Your control and participation
Hypnotherapy requires your voluntary participation. You remain able to communicate, ask questions, decline a suggestion, request a pause or choose to end an exercise or session.
Information and educational content
Information provided on this website, during a consultation or in general educational materials is intended to explain hypnotherapy and the services available. It should not be treated as personalised medical, psychiatric or psychological advice.
Please seek advice from your GP or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional if you are concerned about a physical or mental-health condition or are unsure whether hypnotherapy is suitable for you.
Medical, mental-health and suitability information
Hypnotherapy is not suitable for every person or every concern. Relevant health information helps me consider whether the service can be provided safely and whether advice or support from another professional may be appropriate.
Providing relevant information
Please provide information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, including relevant medical or mental-health conditions, prescribed medication, current treatment and professional support.
Please tell me if this information changes during our work together, as it may affect whether hypnotherapy remains suitable or how sessions should be approached.
Psychosis and schizophrenia
Hypnotherapy may not be appropriate where you currently experience psychosis, have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or have a history of psychosis.
Depending on the circumstances, I may decline or postpone hypnotherapy or ask you to discuss its suitability with the appropriately qualified healthcare professional responsible for your care.
Epilepsy and seizures
Please tell me if you have epilepsy, experience seizures or are currently being investigated for a possible seizure condition.
I may require confirmation from your GP or relevant specialist before agreeing to provide hypnotherapy, or may decide that the service cannot safely be offered.
Current treatment and professional support
Hypnotherapy may sometimes be used alongside medical, psychological or psychiatric care, but it must not interfere with treatment provided by another professional.
Where appropriate, I may recommend that you speak with your GP, mental-health team or another qualified professional before beginning or continuing hypnotherapy.
Suitability decisions
Completing a consultation or requesting an appointment does not guarantee that hypnotherapy will be offered.
I may decline, postpone or end services where I reasonably believe that hypnotherapy is unsuitable, falls outside my competence, requires specialist support or cannot be provided safely.
No medical diagnosis
Any questions about your health or circumstances are asked to assess the suitability and safe delivery of hypnotherapy. They do not constitute a medical, psychiatric or psychological assessment or diagnosis.
If you are uncertain whether hypnotherapy is appropriate because of a medical condition, mental-health concern, medication or current treatment, please speak with the relevant healthcare professional before booking.
Emergencies and urgent support
Invoke Hypnotherapy is not an emergency, crisis or urgent mental-health service. Website forms, emails, text messages and voicemail are not monitored continuously and should not be used when immediate help is required.
Immediate danger or emergency
If you or another person is in immediate danger, there is a serious risk to life or urgent medical attention is required, call 999 or go to the nearest Accident and Emergency department.
Urgent mental-health support
If you need urgent help for your mental health but the situation is not an immediate emergency, use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental-health option.
Existing healthcare support
You may also contact your GP, existing mental-health team or another healthcare professional currently responsible for your care.
You should follow any crisis or safety plan previously agreed with your healthcare team.
Emotional listening support
For confidential listening support, Samaritans can be contacted free at 116 123.
Disclosures during a session
If information disclosed during a consultation or session suggests that you or another person may face a serious and immediate risk of harm, I may pause the session and encourage or assist you to obtain appropriate urgent support.
Where necessary and proportionate, I may contact emergency services or another appropriate professional in accordance with the confidentiality and safeguarding terms and the Privacy Notice.
Contact outside appointments
Messages sent to Invoke Hypnotherapy will be answered as soon as reasonably practical, but an immediate response cannot be guaranteed.
Please use the emergency and urgent-support services above rather than waiting for a response from Invoke Hypnotherapy where prompt help is required.
Hypnotherapy should not be relied upon to manage a medical or mental-health emergency or replace urgent assessment and care from an appropriate service.
Outcomes, responsibility and legal rights
Responses to hypnotherapy vary between individuals. This section explains the limits of what can be promised, your responsibility for personal decisions and the legal standards that still apply to paid services.
Individual outcomes
The effects and results of hypnotherapy vary between individuals. Outcomes may be influenced by the nature of the concern, personal circumstances, participation, expectations and changes that occur between sessions.
Invoke Hypnotherapy does not guarantee a particular result, timescale or number of sessions.
Participation and personal decisions
Hypnotherapy is collaborative and requires your voluntary participation. You remain responsible for the decisions and actions you take during and outside sessions.
Any exercises, suggestions or general information provided should be considered alongside your own circumstances and any advice given by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.
Healthcare decisions
You remain responsible for obtaining appropriate medical or mental-health advice where needed and for following the advice of professionals responsible for your care.
Nothing provided through hypnotherapy should be used as a reason to delay urgent care, disregard medical advice or change medication or treatment without appropriate professional guidance.
Website information
Website content is provided for general information about hypnotherapy and the services offered by Invoke Hypnotherapy.
While reasonable care is taken when preparing the content, it should not be relied upon as personalised medical, psychiatric, psychological, financial or legal advice.
External websites
This website may link to external websites and services for additional information or support. Invoke Hypnotherapy does not control those websites and is not responsible for their availability, content, security or privacy practices.
Reasonable care and skill
Paid hypnotherapy services will be provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in this disclaimer removes or limits that responsibility.
Statutory rights
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or restricts any rights, remedies or protections you have under applicable consumer law.
Where a service has not been provided as agreed or with reasonable care and skill, you may have legal remedies regardless of the wording of this disclaimer.
